Voters in Canfield will decide whether or not a $64,190,000 bond levy for Canfield Local Schools is passed this November.
According to a press release, the district is looking to introduce a revised plan following community concerns over the previous facility master plan. This revised plan is funded by the $64,190,000 bond issue that will appear on Canfield voters' ballots in November.
The plan focuses on constructing a new Canfield Village Middle School on the current site, replacing the old facility with a new building. The existing building is 102 years old and requires extensive repairs and maintenance.
The plan also includes renovation to Canfield High School, as well as C.H. Campbell and Hilltop Elementary Schools.
According to the release, this revised plan significantly reduces the financial impact on the community compared to previous proposals that were struck down by residents at the polls.
If this levy is passed, homeowners can expect to see a millage cost of $10.79 per month per $100,000 of appraised property value per the Mahoning County Auditor's Office.
"Our community has expressed its commitment to quality education. This bond issue reflects our efforts to provide a safe and effective learning environment for our students while also considering the fiscal concerns shared by our residents," said Superintendent Joe Knoll.
The school district will hold informational sessions, provide detailed materials and be available to answer questions from the public regarding this levy
