A Howland Township man has learned his fate Tuesday afternoon after being convicted on 11 charges of having child pornography and engaging in sexual conduct with his family dog and recording it on video.

In a sentencing memorandum, Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Gabe Wildman called for a lengthy prison sentence, characterizing  Addicot as "a child abuser, child pornographer, animal abuser, and sexual deviant."

The prosecution called for a sentence of 36 to 40 years in prison.

In the end, Addicot was handed an indefinite sentence of 24 to 28 years in prison on charges of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, and five counts of sexual conduct with an animal.

This will be followed by five years of post-release control. Addicot must also register as a Tier 2 sex offender once he's released.

It took a jury only a half hour of deliberation to find Trent Addicot guilty of these charges.

During the sentencing, Addicot took to the stand to tearfully apologize for his actions saying he hopes he can get better and become "the best person [he] can."

Judge Ronald Rice addressed Addicot directly saying he is "deeply disturbed" by the way he entered the criminal justice system for his first time.

"You have ruined your family and permanently tarnished your reputation. You did all this to gratify your own perverted sexual needs," Judge Rice said.

"You are now a registered sex offender, you will probably never see your daughter again and you are losing your freedom. You are the reason our society has laws for registered sex offenders," Judge Rice continued.

Video evidence showed Addicot engaging in sexual conduct with a dog five times, with one of them being in the presence of a two-year-old child. One of the videos of the dog lasted 15 minutes long and included close-ups.

Judge Rice voiced his disgust at the content of those videos.

"Your self-made videos of you having anal intercourse with your family dog is one of the most disgusting things I've had the displeasure to watch inside my courtroom in the last 32 years," Judge Rice said.

Others showed Addicot performing a sexual act on himself inches away from that child's face.

"[Addicot] took the extra step to memorialize each of these horrible acts and save them in a hidden folder on his devices as trophies and mementos," Wildman wrote.

Additionally, investigators found that Addicot had downloaded violent pornography of young girls being raped by adults.

The Fairview Avenue man has been jailed on a $500,000 bond since Howland Police arrested him on May 30.
