Wellsville man accused of secretly recording videos of women in locker room, tanning booths, changing rooms
An Wellsville man has pleaded “not guilty” to charges filed after police say he was caught secretly recording video of women at a fitness center locker room and a department store dressing room.
During an arraignment in Municipal Court on Thursday, the bond was set at $15,000 for 24-year-old Shane Lee Wright, who is charged with multiple counts of voyeurism, trespassing, and possessing criminal tools.
St. Clair Township Police say Wright was caught on Friday, using his mobile phone to record video of women undressing from the rafters above the women’s locker room bathroom, and tanning bed area of the Planet Fitness on State Route 170. Police say Wright went through the ceiling of the men’s locker room to gain access to the women’s locker room.
Police say they found other recordings on Wright’s phone, including videos of women undressing in changing rooms at the Calcutta Walmart on August 12 and August 21. One of the alleged victims is a juvenile female, according to the criminal complaint.
Investigators say Wright shot the video by holding his phone under a changing room divider.
Wright is scheduled to appear in court again on September 5.
