The Columbiana County Health District will be hosting a clinic providing skin cancer screenings to residents in September.

The clinic will take place Wednesday, September 11 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Health District's office located at 7360 SR-45 in Lisbon.

You must schedule an appointment in order to attend this clinic. Appointments are limited so those who are interested are asked to call the Health District's office at (330) 424-0272.

Screenings are free for Health District residents. Those who live outside of Columbiana County or in the cities of Salem or East Liverpool, which are outside of the Health District will be charged a fee of $5 cash only.

According to the CDC, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S. Anyone can get skin cancer with the most preventable cause being over exposure to ultraviolet light either by the sun or other artificial sources like tanning beds.

You can lower your risk of skin cancer by using sunscreen, sunglasses, shade, protective clothing and hats.
