An East Palestine village employee who was sent to the hospital after an injury at City Lake Park has died.

East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway confirmed with 21 News that the 17-year-old employee, identified as Austin Miller had succumbed to his injuries following the accident.

East Palestine City Schools Superintendent James Rook told 21 News Miller was a student in the district and the school has been offering students counseling following the accident.

According to a press release from the village, the accident happened when Miller was operating a lawn mower at City Lake Park when the mower went into the lake resulting in injuries.
