Malnourished puppy found in Youngstown, receiving emergency care
An emaciated puppy found on Youngstown's east side Monday afternoon is getting medical care after being rescued by Animal Charity of Ohio.
The dog, now named Bentley, was found along with a dead dog.
When humane agents got to the scene, they found Bentley was dehydrated and unable to move.
He was taken to Animal Charity and stabilized by vet techs before making the trip to Akron for emergency care.
An update Tuesday said Bentley weighed 11 pounds and was approximately five months old.
After being admitted to a veterinarian hospital in Akron, Bentley was slowly rehydrated. Animal Charity said he was loving the attention and his electrolyte and sodium balance were being monitored.
As of Tuesday evening, Bentley is up to 12 pounds since being rehydrated. He is now entering the refeeding process where he'll receive a few bites of food every four hours as his levels are checked.
Currently, the vet bills for his care are between $4,500 and $6,000.
Animal Charity is asking for help with his medical bills. You can donate on their Facebook page.
