Cedar Point: No Top Thrill 2 coaster this season
People who’ve been holding off making their annual summertime visit to Cedar Point hoping to take a ride on the amusement park’s Top Thrill 2 will have to wait even longer.
The venue has announced that the coaster’s manufacturer, Zamperla will not be able to complete needed modifications to get the ride running during the remainder of the 2024 park season.
“We are extremely disappointed that we cannot open the ride this season, but remain committed to delivering a reliable, consistent, and unparalleled coaster experience for our guests in 2025,” park officials said.
Just weeks after the season-opening, Cedar Point announced in May an “extended closure” of the new Top Thrill 2 ride.
Top Thrill 2 features a 420-foot vertical spike tower with a 101-mph reverse launch, going up at a 90-degree angle.
The repurposed ride repurposes the Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster which closed in the summer of 2021 an object fell from it, striking a woman in the head, requiring her hospitalization.
