Giant Eagle enters agreement to sell all GetGo stores
Giant Eagle has announced on Monday that it has entered into an agreement to sell all of its GetGo store sites.
The sites will be sold to Couche-Tard, who is described in a press release as "an international leader" in the convenience store and fuel industry. Couche-Tard is the parent company of convenience store chain Circle K.
"This is an exciting moment for Giant Eagle strengthening our business for the future and delivering significant benefits to our team members, partners, customers and communities," the release reads.
According to the release, the sale will strengthen Giant Eagle and allow the company to better prioritize investments and resources to further bolster its position as a leading regional grocer and pharmacy.
The transaction is expected to close sometime in 2025 following FTC approval and other closing conditions.
All current GetGo employees will be retained following the sales and the myPerks loyalty program will still be in place.
According to the release, Giant Eagle will be exploring opportunities to expand the program to give customers even more value and discounts.
"As we learn more about the GetGo business, it is clear that it has built a strong and passionate customer base with high quality stores staffed by talented and engaged teams working to deliver a great experience. We have deep respect for its management and people as well as its outstanding food and loyalty programs," said Couche-Tard President and CEO Brian Hannasch.
