A Warren man was arrested in Girard after he allegedly threatened his ex-wife's mother with a knife.

According to a police report from Girard PD, the incident happened Saturday, August 17 shortly after 6:00 p.m. at the Girard Stadium.

Police say the man, identified as 35-year-old Robert Santee of Warren was involved in a fight and at one point brandished a knife before fleeing in a black pickup truck.

Police found the truck and conducted a traffic stop where officers say Santee admitted to having a pistol and two knives in the vehicle. He was placed under arrest.

Officers spoke to Santee's ex-wife, who told police the fight stemmed from a custody issue regarding a child the two had in common. Police say Santee attempted to grab the child multiple times and take her.

That's when police say Santee's ex-wife's mother tried to intervene and Santee became combative and pulled out the knife. Police say Santee fled when a few more male witnesses began to confront him.

Santee is charged with one count of felonious assault. He was arraigned Monday morning and is set to appear back in court August 21.
