A new spot in Struthers is offering dogs a new space to run and play.

The Marjorie Hartman Struthers Unleashed Dog Park at Grimm Nebo Field at the end of E Haywood Avenue will open to the public Saturday at 5 p.m.

The park features a fenced-in 50-by-140 foot area with locations for both small and large dogs.

Struthers Unleashed is celebrating its opening with a community festival from 5 to 8 p.m. that will include a ribbon cutting, live music, face painting, dog adoptions, dog-themed giveaways and food and drinks.

"A dog park was a top priority identified during our community engagement for the comprehensive plan. This project exemplifies the kind of community-driven effort we envisioned when we launched discover Struthers," Mayor Miller said.

The dog park is free to use and was fully funded by the Marjorie Hartman Foundation, the Struthers Rotary and private donations.
