Road construction in downtown Youngstown is moving along, with a few previously closed sections now open to drivers.

The west side of Market St. between Boardman St. and Commerce St. has reopened to traffic. The eastern side of Market St. remains closed while demolition on the Realty building continues.

A block over, Champion Street reopened between E Boardman St. and E Federal St.

The downtown area isn't quite free from road projects, yet. Beginning August 19, E Boardman St. between Market St. and S Walnut St. will undergo a water main replacement. The City says thru traffic will be maintained as much as possible, and parking along that stretch will be intermittent.

The water main replacement project is expected to last about 4 months, and detour signs will be posted. The road will remain open for pedestrians.
