The Cavaliers are slated to play 82 regular season games, including 21 weekend home dates comprised of six Friday games, three Saturday games and 12 Sunday games.
The Wine & Gold will also make 16 national television appearances this upcoming season:
· 4 games on TNT (Nov. 19 at BOS, Jan. 14 at IND, Feb. 25 at ORL, April 10 at IND).
· 4 games on ESPN (Nov. 1 vs. ORL, Feb. 21 vs. NYK, Feb. 28 at BOS, March 5 vs. MIA ).
· 8 games on NBA TV (Nov. 4 vs. MIL, Nov. 9 vs. BKN, Nov. 29 at ATL, Dec. 5 vs. DEN, Dec. 20 vs. MIL, Jan. 27 vs. DET, March 2 vs. POR and April 11 at NYK).
Highlights of the home schedule for the 2024-25 season include visits from the NBA champion Boston Celtics on Dec. 1 and Feb. 4 and a visit from the Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 2. Cleveland will also host the Phoenix Suns for a special Martin Luther King Jr. Day game on Jan. 20. Additional marquee opponents coming to Cleveland only once this season include the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 30, the Golden State Warriors on Nov. 8, the Denver Nuggets on Dec. 5, the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 8, the Minnesota Timberwolves on Feb. 10 and the San Antonio Spurs on March 27.
Cleveland will also participate in the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup tipping off on Tuesday, Nov. 12 and will culminate with a championship game on Dec. 17 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with Group Play games taking place on Tuesdays and Fridays from November 12th to December 3rd. The Cavaliers are set to compete in East Group C with four games against teams in their pool: Nov. 15 vs. Chicago, Nov. 19 at Boston, Nov. 29 at Atlanta, and Dec. 3 vs. Washington. Eight teams (four per conference) will advance from Group Play into the Knockout Rounds. The advancing teams will be the six group winners and two “wild cards” (the team from each conference with the best record in Group Play games that finished second in its group). The Knockout Rounds will consist of single-elimination games in the Emirates NBA Cup Quarterfinals (Tuesday, Dec. 10 and Wednesday, Dec. 11 in NBA market), Semifinals (Saturday, Dec. 14) and Championship (Tuesday, Dec. 17). The higher-seeded teams will host the Quarterfinals and the Semifinals and Championship will take place a neutral site at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. All Emirates NBA Cup games will count toward the regular-season standings except the Championship game. During the Knockout Rounds on days when Emirates NBA Cup games are not scheduled (Dec. 12-13 and Dec. 15-16), the 22 teams that do not qualify for the Knockout Rounds will each play two regular-season games.
The Cavaliers are scheduled to match up against each Eastern Conference opponent four times with the exception of Atlanta (two home, one away), Brooklyn (two home, one away), Orlando (two home, one away), Miami (one home, two away), Philadelphia (one home, two away) and Washington (one home, two away). Each Western Conference opponent will play the Cavaliers twice – once at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and once on the road. Additional games against opponents can be added pending Cleveland’s Emirates NBA Cup results.
