A 36-year-old man from Arizona has answered a felony drug charge in court Friday after police say he ran from a car in Canfield carrying more than 88 pounds of methamphetamine and one kilo of cocaine.

Jeffrey Battle of Phoenix was arraigned on a charge of drug possession following his arrest early Thursday near a fashionable Canfield neighborhood. His bond was set at $200,000.

Drug Task Force agents chased a car along Interstate 680 to Meridian Road after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Other police agencies joined the pursuit, which continued along Tippecanoe Road to Shields Road in Canfield.

The driver jumped out of the car at Dorado Beach Drive and Shields Road. State Troopers, police officers, and agents with the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force surrounded the neighborhood.

A K9 tracked the scent on the ground while an Ohio State Highway Patrol plane used a heat-detecting infrared camera from the air.

Battle was found and arrested. Police say they recovered duffle bags containing the meth and cocaine with an estimated street value of $105,000.

Battle was booked in the Mahoning County Jail on a charge of possession of drugs and more charges are expected to be filed.

A hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. in county court in Canfield.
