Grove City flooring business owner accused of stealing from customers
The owner of a Grove City flooring business is in the Mercer County Jail accused of taking money from several customers and failing to perform the work she was hired for.
Thirty-year-old Ashley Roth of Enon Valley, Pennsylvania was first arrested in Lawrence County for allegedly taking $3,300 from a New Castle couple to perform improvement work on their home’s porch, then not doing the work.
The couple told police they were unable to reach Roth’s Aey Plus Flooring, which also goes by the name Black Dolphin in Grove City.
Roth is charged under the state law making it illegal to receive advance payment for a service and failing to perform that service.
Roth has been transferred to the Mercer County Jail to face multiple charges of theft filed by Grove City Police which investigated three complaints from Aey customers.
Police say Roth received payments of $2,814 and $1,961 from the victims but did not deliver the flooring or do the job.
According to a criminal complaint, Roth bought the business from the previous owner in November.
AEY Plus Flooring & Remodeling has an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau.
The BBB website lists three customer complaints filed this year that the company has not answered.
More hearings are scheduled for Roth before the district magistrate in Grove City.
