The Youngstown East High School Class of 1954 gathered for their 70th class reunion.

They met at A La Cart Catering in Canfield to share stories and reconnect with their classmates.

Old yearbook photos and newspaper clippings were on display to highlighting memories of the past.

"Being a Golden Bear, we used to cheer, go to the football games and walk from South High School to Downtown," Kay Kalischak, a 1954 graduate said. "We'd stop and have a root beer float, take the bus home. We enjoyed being on the choir and singing, it was a lot of fun."

Another 1954 graduate recalled memories from inside the classroom.

"I remember the classes, some of the engineering things that led me into the engineering field," Ed Evaniuk said. "I don't remember the teachers names but I can see their faces. The engineering drawing and math classes."

The remaining members of the class try to get together once a month for lunch to stay connected after all the years.
