Samsung has issued a recall on its slide-in electric ranges due to a potential fire hazard.

The recalled products were sold at Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe's and other appliance stores across the country, as well as online via Samsung's website between May of 2013 and August of 2024 for between $1,250 and $3,050 apiece.

Products with the following model numbers are affected by this recall. The model numbers can be found on the inside upper left corner of the oven door or inside the storage bin on the bottom of the oven.

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, the front mounted knobs on the ranges can easily be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets posing a potential fire hazard.

So far, Samsung has received over 300 reports of unintentional activation of the front mounted knobs by humans or pets since 2013. The products have been involved in about 250 fires, 18 of which resulting in extensive property damage and seven resulting in the death of a pet.

Additionally, about 40 injuries have been reported with eight requiring medical attention.

Anyone who has purchased a recalled product should contact Samsung at 1-833-775-0120 or email rangesupport@sea.samsung.com to receive a free set of knob locks or covers compatible with their model of the product.

While consumers wait for their new knobs to arrive, they can still use their ranges, but should be mindful of of accidental activation.

Those still using the product without the new knobs are asked to keep their children and pets away from the product, check to see if the range is turned off before leaving the house or going to bed and not leave objects on the range while it is not in use.

If you have a Wi-Fi enabled range, you can enable the "Cooktop On" notification on the Samsung SmartThings app to receive alerts whenever a burner is turned on.
