Trumbull MetroParks sets date for deer lottery this fall
Folks in and around Trumbull County will get the chance to get priority hunting at the Trumbull County MetroParks (TCMP) this fall.
The organization is hosting a lottery for the 2024/2025 deer hunting season on September 11 at 10 a.m. at the Park Office in Howland.
While hunter's don't need to attend the lottery in person, permits are due before August 30 at 4 p.m. at the office, according to a news release from TCMP.
If a hunter doesn't enter the lottery, they won't be allowed to hunt in the park by gun or bow.
All hunters licensed through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are eligible to enter the lottery, however those living in Trumbull County will be given priority.
The lottery will relate to West Branch Wetlands Nature Preserve, Eagle Creek Nature Preserve, Lockwood Hunting Preserve and Trock Forest.
The season will begin from the start of Bow season to February 28 annually.
Hunting lotteries are a way to give hunters opportunities to hunt on public land while also managing the wildlife population in a safe manner to the ecosystem.
