The Cortland Library has announced that it has closed for the remainder of Tuesday, August 6 due to a power outage in the city.

According to FirstEnergy's outage map, the City of Cortland reported 447 outages and Bazetta Township is reporting 95 outages as of 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.

However, those numbers have just decreased significantly with Cortland now only reporting two outages and Bazetta reporting 51.

A representative with FirstEnergy tells 21 News the outages were caused by severe weather in the area. Crews are still working to restore power to about 60 customers in the affected areas.

FirstEnergy's outage map shows power should be back on for these customers around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.

In the meantime, Warren-Trumbull County Public Library's Brookfield, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown and Warren locations are still open with their normal hours.
