Man arrested for Sharon murder may not have been the shooter
The suspect charged in connection with a Murder in Sharon last week may not have been the one to fire the shots, according to a criminal complaint.
City police arrested 33-year-old Billy DeWayne Phillips for Thursday night’s shooting death of 35-year-old Terran Page-Hughes, who was found shot in the head along the 800 block of Ravine Place and died later in the hospital.
Although Phillips is charged with first-degree murder and criminal homicide, the criminal complaint filed in court says a review of security video shows the flashes from the gunshots coming from off-camera as Phillips was backing away from Page-Hughes.
Police say Phillips admits going to the apartment complex that night with two other men to confront Page-Hughes who had allegedly sent Phillips videos on Facebook, challenging him to meet on Ravine Place.
Phillips told officers that Page-Hughes and another man had gotten into a fight with one of Phillip’s relatives earlier.
Police have the names of the two men who were with Phillips. However, as of Monday morning, neither had been charged or arrested.
Another court hearing is scheduled for Phillips on August 14.
