Canfield man accused of raping two women in Kent pleads to less serious charges
Canfield man indicted for allegedly raping two women in Kent has pleaded guilty to less serious charges.
Twenty-two-year-old McCoy Watkins entered a written "guilty plea" in Portage County Common Pleas Court to two felony counts of gross sexual imposition.
Watkins had been scheduled to go on trial next week on two counts of rape and one count of burglary. Those charges were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
The charges stemmed from an incident from November of 2022 when he allegedly raped two women aged 18 and 19 years old.
According to court documents, Watkins faces a maximum sentence of 19 months in prison for each count, followed by five years probation and being declared a Tier One sex offender.
Watkins will be sentenced after a pre-sentence report is completed.
