A stretch of State Route 7 is open again after a truck carrying hazardous materials overturned in Columbiana County late Wednesday.

Local police told State Troopers that a tractor-trailer hauling batteries swerved to avoid a cow along Route 7 between Heck and County Line Roads in Fairfield Township shortly before 11 p.m.

The truck veered into a field, landing on its side.

After determining that none of the chemicals in the batteries were leaking, Route 7 was opened again. First Responders managed to contain a diesel spill.  The driver wasn’t seriously injured.

Two wreckers used cranes to right the trailer early Thursday morning.
