TikTok rallying support for Aubrey Bogacki through recovery
Aubrey Bogacki is miraculously showing signs of improvement, following a tragic car crash that took the lives of her father and two siblings in Slippery Rock Township on July 20.
Support is still on the incline as the Bogacki family works through this horrendous time. Aubrey is faced with multiple breaks and fractures, including her collarbone, clavicle, shoulder blade, elbow forearm, and several vertebrae in her back and neck. She is also suffering from a break in her nose and eye socket.
Through the help of social media, Aubrey might be able to get some love from one of her idols, Taylor Swift.
"On Wednesday, she got moved up to the rehab unit," explained David Syka, Bogacki's Uncle. "She no longer has any IVs. She can eat and drink anything she wants so she's loving that. I just brought her McDonald's today."
The 11-year old's family told 21 News her spirits are high, as she's surrounded by love not just in the hospital but throughout the community.
A handful of fundraisers are taking place throughout the Portersville and Howland communities.
"She's smiling, laughing and making us laugh like never before," Syka added. "She's just in high spirits and just constant smiles. It's awesome to see."
Her remarkable story of recovery even spread through social media. The TikTok community is working to get the attention of Taylor Swift, Aubrey's favorite artist.
"I know if everybody could just share this and take a few seconds to share this, we could get Taylor's attention," said Ashley Murray, Brand Ambassador of 724 Bagger Co. on TikTok. "Maybe she could give her a shoutout or a video or something to Aubrey to give her a little bit of light. Who isn't inspired by Aubrey's story? I know mental health can affect your physical health and everyone's support has helped her improve."
"She would probably jump out of bed and start dancing if Taylor Swift showed her love," Syka said. "She loves Taylor Swift."
Aubrey and her cousin just posted a TikTok on Wednesday, singing to Taylor Swift's hit 'Shake it Off' while in the hospital.
"That's something she's going to hold onto for the rest of her life if Taylor were to show some love," Murray added. "I feel like it will give her the push to keep going."
Aubrey's circle working to continue to uplift the young girl as she continues to recover, day by day and song by song.
"She's the strongest kid I'll ever know," Syka concluded. "She's trying to be a kid again."
The family's GoFundMe is still accepting donations.
