Workers allowed to take items out of the Realty Building

At last nights city council meeting, it was revealed that demolition workers at the Realty Building are allowed to take any items out of the building they want.
Now, residents who were told it was unsafe for anyone to go in and get their things want answers.
Tuesday afternoon, two Realty Tower residents were escorted off the demolition site after demanding the construction workers tell them where they took items from their apartment. They told police on site that no one is helping them.
The owners of the building shared the following statement:
“As building owners, we did everything within our legal ability to retrieve as many of the residents’ personal items as feasibly possible. We also needed to consider the safety of the firemen, who bravely volunteered their services to conduct the retrieval process. At this time, we wish to respect the residents’ privacy and complex emotions surrounding this matter. However, we do want to reiterate that as building owners, we followed industry standards and operations as advised to us by legal and industry counsel and turned possession and liability of the property to the demolition contractor once our retrieval process was complete.”
On multiple occasions, residents have been told to file a police report, but one resident emailed 21 News saying he was denied the opportunity to file a report due to an existing master police report.
When we asked the Youngstown Police Department about this, they said a master police report doesn't exist.
21 News reached out to get clarification from the mayor, police chief, the city's demolition supervisor and council members, but only the mayor got back to us saying he may be available later this evening.
21 News also tried to speak to the owner of the demolition crew, but did not receive a response.
