Rep. Loychik reintroducing bill to rename Mosquito Lake State Park after former President Trump
State Representative Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) is resuming his effort to rename a state park in Trumbull County.
According to the release, Loychik will reintroduce legislation to rename Mosquito Lake State Park in Cortland to Donald J. Trump State Park.
"President Trump has worked tirelessly not just for the people of Trumbull and Ashtabula counties in District 65 but for all Ohioans and all Americans, both during and after his presidency," Loychik said. "In light of the recent events that transpired in Butler, Pennsylvania, I believe this further personifies the type of leader we have in President Trump-brave, fearless, and puts America first, which is why I hope that we can rename our wonderful state park in his honor."
He previously introduced House Bill 261 in March 2021.
According to the Ohio Legislature website, House Bill 261 did not pass through a House Committee.
The 2021 bill called for $300,000 to change signs at the park.
Mosquito Lake is one of the largest lakes in Ohio, covering more than 7,000 acres of surface area. The surrounding parkland covers 2,483 acres of woodlands and marshes. The park offers boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and snowmobiling in the winter.
