Pedestrian killed after being hit by car in Boardman identified as local musician
Authorities have identified the man killed after being struck by a car in Boardman Friday afternoon.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the man as 35-year-old Sean Baran of Youngstown.
Troopers say Baran was walking eastbound on East Fairlawn Avenue when a 2004 Volkswagon GTI was traveling southbound on Market Street.
Troopers say Baran walked in the lane of travel and was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene.
The Boardman Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were on scene investigating along with the Mahoning County Coroner.
The crash is still under investigation.
Boardman United Methodist Church posted on Facebook about Baran's death. He was the organist at the church for nine years before moving to First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sean Baran. Our hearts go out to the Baran family and everyone who knew and loved him. Sean was an extraordinary musician whose talent brought joy to countless lives. The BUMC congregation was truly blessed to have him as our organist. He will be greatly missed."
According to his biography on the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh's website, Baran earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Youngstown State University. He also taught piano at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, Pennsylvania.
Baran appeared on WFMJ Today on July 12 ahead of the Youngstown Hymn Sing event.
