As the old adage goes, the only constant is change.
Changes will soon be coming to Salem Regional pediatric care facilities in Salem and Columbiana.

"The Salem pediatric offices will be joining the Akron Children's Hospital primary care network," says Paul Olivier, VP of Mahoning Valley enterprises for Akron Children's.

The transition is a year in the making.
It'll be all the same doctors and staff.

The Salem location on East State Street will stay put, while the Columbiana location will move just up the road to Firestone Farms.

When we asked Olivier why now was the right time to make this move, he said "we've been growing our pediatric network for the past several years. This will actually be the ninth and 10th practices in the Mahoning Valley."

That growing network includes the addition of a Campbell office last year and a sleep lab at Beeghly Medical Park.
Olivier says it's one more way to bring more services to where more people are.
Patients will be able to use Akron Children's electronic records system, as well as MyChart.

The acquisition also provides more opportunity for doctors to work collaboratively.
"The Salem pediatricians have been a great asset to the community in Salem and Columbiana and we're very excited and proud that they're joining Akron Children's," said Olivier.

The transition becomes official August 5, a change that Akron Children's promises will be a welcome one.
