Mahoning County Commissioners tell 21 News Mahoning County is getting an estimated amount of $724,000 from the One Ohio Subdivision opioid settlement.

Commissioner Anthony Traficanti tells 21 News Mahoning County is estimated to get $724,000 over the course of two years. Traficanti says the exact amount is subject to change.

The funding comes from the One Ohio Recovery Foundation, who announced back in February of 2024 that they will be donating over $51 million worth of opioid settlement money in 2024.

Back in February, 21 News reported that $2.8 million was available for counties lumped under the Region 7 category to receive. Both Mahoning and Trumbull Counties are a part of this category.

One Ohio is responsible for distributing 55% or $1.1 billion of Ohio's Opioid settlement money. The total amount will be distributed over the course of several years.

Meanwhile, state and local governments are responsible for the other 45% or $900 million of the settlement money.
