Youngstown police collect 33 shell casings, 4 shotgun shells from two neighborhood shootings

People living in a neighborhood on Youngstown’s Westside were awakened by a hail of gunshots overnight.
It was 3 a.m. Thursday when dispatchers got a call about shots being fired in Manchester Avenue, just south of Connecticut Avenue.
One woman told police that shots were fired at her home. A man found a bullet on the floor of his bedroom. No one was hit by the gunfire. However, one woman told police she was having a panic attack.
Nineteen shell casings from three different caliber guns were found scattered in the street and a pathway leading to a home.
Officers collected the casings as evidence.
Two nights earlier on the Southside, the police department’s ShotSpotter technology detected shots fired along East Avondale Avenue near Southern Boulevard Tuesday night.
A woman told officers she was watching TV when she heard gunshots. One of the bullets zipped over her head, piercing a living room wall. Police say a bullet also went through a window of her car.
The woman told officers she was leaving her home to find a safer place to stay for the night.'
Police picked up 14 rifle shell casings and four 12-gauge shotgun casings outside a home.
Officers interviewed neighbors who said they hadn't seen anything.
