Brendan Daviduk sat in court in prison orange, prison garments he will likely wear for life after Judge Sean J. O'Brien handed down his sentence for the January 2023 murder of 16-year-old Chassidy Broadstone.
And the attempted murders of her two sisters who were able to jump out of windows from the 2nd floor of their mother's home on Nevada Avenue.
The three teens, all innocent in a dispute between adults, were asleep when their home was torched.
"You took a 16-year-old's life. You caused two sixteen-year-old girls to jump out of a window. One had one leg. That's not a man,"
James Stein said.
Some of the victim's family members gave impact statements about the trauma and grief over the loss of Chassidy.
"Sir, you are a coward. I hope that prison serves you with the same mercy you showed those girls that morning. And we are the Boradstone girls forever," Marsha Boradstone Scheuvront, the victim's aunt said. "It's been 553 days since my sister has been dead. I have had to relive this day over and over again. I'm at the point where we do not need this trial. Just let me have 15 minutes alone in a room with him," Jazmine Dickey, the victim's sister said.
Co-conspirator, Patricia Zarlingo is serving life in prison with no parole eligibility until she has spent 35 years behind bars.
Zachary Gurd who brought the gas to start the deadly blaze and torched the home has pleaded guilty.
He's expected to spend life in prison and can't apply for parole until he serves 40 years.
"It's very rare to get three defendants to be sentenced to life sentences, and that is what happened here. All of them will most likely die in prison and that is where they should die," Trumbull Assistant Prosecutor Chris Becker responded.
