First responders in Poland are inviting the community to get to know them a little better.

The Poland Township Fire and Police Departments are holding their annual Safety Forces Appreciation Picnic on Saturday, August 3. Members of the Mahoning County Drug Task Force and SWAT team will also be in attendance.

A Med-Vac team will also land in the area for a firsthand look at how they respond to scenes.

The goal is to give the public an inside look at the work they do on a daily basis and show the efforts they're making to keep the community safe.

The latest addition to the department is new officer worn body cameras.

"It's just another great key element to community policing," Poland Township Police Chief Greg Wilson said. "We want our community to know that our officers are doing a great job for them."

The Safety Forces Appreciation Picnic is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Poland Township Park.

There will be food available and bounce houses for kids attending.
