A Farrell woman remained held in the Trumbull County Jail Wednesday on a $50,000 bond after being brought from Mercer County to face charges of theft from a protected class, receiving stolen property, and forgery.

During a Tuesday court hearing in which Felecia Splitstone pleaded “not guilty,” a judge in Trumbull County increased the 35-year-old woman’s bail from the original $2,500 amount after she didn't appear for a court hearing in April.

Splitstone was arrested by authorities in Mercer County on June 28.

Authorities say the former caretaker is accused of stealing over $10,000 from the 99-year-old veteran from Brookfield. She now faces a higher felony charge for theft from a person in a protected class.

Police say Splitstone admitted to using his credit cards and forging his signature.

If Splitstone makes bail, she would be placed under house arrest at least until her next court hearing on August 15.
