Produce recalled from Valley Walmart, Aldi, Save-a-Lot stores, food banks
Produce recalled over contamination concerns has been expanded to include Walmart, Aldi, Save-a-Lot stores in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys, as well as Youngstown food banks.
The Food and Drug Administration announced that Wiers Farm Inc. of Willard, OH, expanded its July 12, 2024, recall including additional produce because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Products involved in the expanded recall were packed between July 5-12 (2024). There have been no illnesses or consumer complaints reported so far.
Listeria monocytogenes is a type of bacteria that can cause listeriosis. Symptoms vary depending on the severity of the illness and symptoms may last from days to several weeks.
The FDA says anyone who ate the recalled products and are experiencing symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues should seek medical attention.
