Folks giving their fur babies flea and tick medication from the Dollar Tree  may want to be cautious.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) Pesticide Enforcement program is working to remove a pesticide product from the store's shelves across the state.

The product called "Sergeant's Nature's Gaurdian, Flea and Tick Control," lists its active ingredients as lemongrass, clove and peppermint oils and are registered as a minimum risk pesticide product.

However, in May, ODA inspectors collected samples for testing. Recent lab results show the product was contaminated with traditional flea and tick pesticide ingredients: Imidichloprid and Methoprene.

Products containing these ingredients have specific instructions on their use, which these misbranded boxes do not include, according to a report from the ODA.

ODA notified the U.S. EPA and is issuing an order to hold any remaining inventory of this product sold at any Dollar Tree stores.
