UPDATE: State services, Valley law enforcement impacted by IT outage
Law enforcement agencies in the Valley are trying to work around a widespread Microsoft outage reported Friday morning.
21 News spoke with several dispatchers, most of whom reported outages of systems used to access data on driving and criminal records.
However, dispatchers say people are still able to report emergencies.
A spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol issued a statement saying the outage is not impacting the Patrol’s ability to respond to calls for service or the public’s needs.
"Ohio state troopers remain visible across the state and continue to assist the motoring public. If in need of assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol please call #677," according to the statement.
Other state services may also be impaired.
Ohio Department of Administrative Services Director Kathleen C. Madden issued a statement saying the world-wide Crowdstrike software outage this morning is impacting some state of Ohio IT services.
Madden says the Department of Administrative Services IT engineering teams are working with state agencies to restore outages.
The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles website was down as of 6 a.m.
A BMV representative emailed the below message to 21 News:
Due to a global network outage impacting services worldwide, some BMV and title services may or may not be available. We are working to restore services as quickly as possible.
Two Cortland gas stations, the Circle K and the Speedway near State Route 5 were cash only for a period of time because their register wouldn't accept credit or debit cards.
The Akron-Canton and Pittsburgh International airport are telling travelers to call their airline before coming to the airport to check if there are any delays since some airlines computers went down. Both airports said the outage didn't effect airport systems or security check points.
UPS and FedEx have said packages may be delayed because of their outages.
Enbridge Gas said their call centers were experiencing technical issues Friday morning. If customers call and don't get an answered they're being directed to call 9111 to report a gas leak.
