A motorcyclist may have wondered how he got arrested at his Liberty Township home after escaping from a high-speed police chase that began in Youngstown.

Police say they gave chase after spotting a speeding motorcycle passing cars along Market Street on Youngstown’s Southside late Wednesday.

Police ended the chase shortly after the cycle turned east on Dewey Avenue, turning the pursuit over to an Ohio State Highway Patrol helicopter they were working with as part of an Impact Initiative program.

Troopers told police they followed the motorcycle from the air, watching it speed through red lights and stop signs at 80 miles per hour.

The patrol says they watched from above as the cycle pulled into a garage at Fifth Avenue and Colonial Drive in Liberty Township.

The same officer who had been chasing him in a police cruiser earlier drove to the home and arrested the suspected motorcyclist, Hamad Alhmeed, who police say admitted fleeing from police on the motorcycle.

Almeed was given a summons to appear in court to answer charges of failure to comply with police,  and driving without a license.
