Shoppers who stop at the Salem Walmart may wonder if they have walked into the wrong place if they haven’t been there in a while.
The Supercenter on East State Street has been undergoing renovations that Walmart executives say will offer customers a seamless, effortless, high-quality shopping experience.
Calling it one of their “Stores of the Future,” the transformation includes new displays designed to lure customers into certain departments, allowing them to become a part of the space.
The store also features apparel and other products that are out of their boxes so customers can see how they may fit into their daily lives.
Walmart has also opened more space allowing customers to explore what the store offers.
Shoppers will also see digital touchpoints displaying products and services Walmart offers online using QR codes and digital screens.
Customers are invited to a grand re-opening event and ribbon cutting on Friday, July 19th at 9 a.m.
The event will be kicked off by local worship leader Ashley Walker from Youngstown Grace Church who will perform the National Anthem after the Presentation of Colors by the Ladies Auxiliary AMVETS Post 45.
The celebration will continue throughout the day with vendors including Smart Style, Subway, Ole', Red Bull, Coke, Nabisco, General Mills, Kellogg's, Pepperidge Farms, Schwebel's, Hershey’s, Nestles, Frito Lay and Wood Forrest Bank passing out free samples to customers.
The Oscar Wiener Mobile will also be in the Walmart parking lot providing food to customers.
A community-focused mural, part of Walmart’s Community Mural Program, will also be unveiled.
