Earlier this week, 21 News reported that retail chain Big Lots was closing several stores in order to get out of substantial financial troubles. Now, we've learned the retailer is testing out some new changes to their stores at locations throughout the Mahoning Valley.
The changes include an updated look and layout as well as plenty of new furniture, decor and big brand pantry essentials all below market prices.
Customers can see these changes for themselves when Big Lots locations in Boardman, Calcutta, Warren, Austintown and Niles reopen Saturday, July 13 at 9:00 a.m.
The first 100 customers on both Saturday and Sunday will receive free scratch-off coupons worth up to $250. The Boardman location in particular will be offering even more surprises throughout the day Saturday.
Additionally, the new store format will introduce Orange Light Specials with an additional 10% off an item or product category for a single 30-minute period each day.
These specials will be announced to customers and clearly marked with special signage.
"We're doing something really special in the Youngstown area. We're bringing in truckloads of new closeouts, overstocks and liquidation deals across all types of products. And we're dedicated to passing savings directly to our Youngstown community, with new treasure-hunt deals dropping each week, every week," said Big Lots Senior Vice President of Extreme Value Sourcing Seth Marks.
