Police in Columbus captured a man who Warren police believe to be the masked man who fired shots at two detectives in an unmarked vehicle.

According to a post on Warren PD's Facebook page, the suspect, identified as Davonte McLeroy was captured shortly before 3:00 p.m. Friday by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team and the Columbus Police Department.

McLeroy was wanted on a warrant for two counts of attempted murder.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred back in October of 2023 when two detectives were driving on the 200 Block of Austin Avenue NW and a man wearing a black mask and red hood ran down a driveway and fired shots at them.

Police believe that man to have been McLeroy.

Two other people were arrested that day including a 16-year-old girl and 37-year-old Ricketa McLeroy. Both were charged with obstructing justice.

Police obtained a search warrant to further search the house and found no additional suspects, but did find the black mask and red hood on the kitchen floor.

There is no word yet on when McLeroy will be extradited back to Warren to answer to his charges.
