The demolition is slated to begin Friday at 1:00 P.M. The final piece of the puzzle for the demolition process was given to the county early Thursday afternoon,

Hours after the county received the final document from engineers, a building permit, which allows for demolition, was granted. Now that all the needed paperwork has been turned into the Mahoning County Building Inspection Department, the demolition process can start.

Although the process was expected to start Thursday, a representative of YO Properties 47 LLC said the demolition process will start Friday. Because there have been so many delays throughout the entire process, First Ward Councilman Julius Oliver is upset with the lack of communication between everyone.

“There shouldn’t be missing documentation at this point. This has been going on for over a month. There’s been plenty of time to both demo the building and save the building. It just seems like something is happening, for something else to happen, to the benefit of who knows,” said Oliver.

With so many unanswered questions, Oliver said the community needs to come together.

Yo Properties 47 LLC, the owners of the Realty building, have given a target date of August 2 to get to the 4th floor. At that time, some surrounding buildings may be able to reopen. The timeline for demolition will be determined by Yo Properties 47 LLC and the contractor.
