The case against an incoming Leetonia superintendent has been dismissed after a grand jury declined to indict him.

According to court records, the case against Gerald "Tony" DelBoccio, who was recently hired as the new superintendent for the Leetonia Exempted Village School District was dismissed after a grand jury issued a "no bill" of indictment against him.

DelBoccio was previously accused of stealing $4,300 worth of televisions, iPads and other computer equipment from the East Palestine City School District back in June.

Police said security video from inside the school showed DelBoccio entering a door with a backpack and a black bag in his hands and later leaving the school with the black bag full and what appeared to be two Apple MacBooks in his hands.

Police previously said when they discovered the equipment, DelBoccio admitted to taking it, but said he was going to give it back to the IT department.

Leetonia School Board President Michael Henderson tells 21 News DelBoccio is still set to begin his position as superintendent in Leetonia August 1.
