The final paperwork to allow the demolition of the Realty Building to proceed has been filed the county officials.

This allows for demolition to begin Friday at 1:00 p.m.

The paperwork was submitted at 1:20 p.m., and demolition contractors picked up the papers to demolish the 100-year-old building in downtown Youngstown.

The building was damaged on May 28 after workers within the basement of the structure cut into a natural gas line, causing an explosion that killed 27-year-old Akil Drake and injured seven other people.
