Runners in Canfield took to the streets to celebrate the Fourth of July this year in the annual Firecracker 4-Miler Race.

The festivities kicked off around 8:00 a.m. with a half-mile kids race. From there, the firecracker runners were off.

All runners got a commemorative medal once they crossed the finished line. The two top winners told 21 News this is the first time either of them have won the race.

"I felt good. I want to get faster every year and I improve every year and that's where I want to be," said first female finisher Elaine Reedy.

"I ran a couple years ago. I got third and then a couple years before that I got tenth when I was really young. So it feels good to work up and win now that I'm a bit older," said first male finisher Luke Baun.

The race celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.
