Bond has been set at a million dollars for the suspect in a homicide in Youngstown back in 2021

Twenty-six-year-old Durrell Richardson was arraigned via video Wednesday afternoon on charges of Aggravated Murder and Felonious Assault. Bond has been set at $1 million. Prosecutors believe Richardson to be a flight risk and a danger to the community.

The charges stem from a shooting back in March of 2021 that claimed the life of 19-year-old Damon Irby and wounded another woman. The two were shot while driving northbound on Market Street near Auburndale Avenue.

Should Richardson be bonded out, he is ordered to have no contact with the surviving victim.

A warrant was issued for Richardson's arrest in April of 2021.

Richardson was wanted until June of 2024 when FBI agents found him in Atlanta, Georgia and arrested him. He was extradited back to Youngstown on Tuesday where he remains jailed.

YPD says the search for Richardson never stopped and thanked those who stepped up to provide information and sent the message that violence in the city must stop.

"YPD wants to assure the community that the pursuit of those committing our most violent crimes does not end and it takes all of us to working cooperatively to end the cycle of violence," the department said in a press release.
