A man is in the hospital after police say he jumped off the Spring Common Bridge while being pursued by officers.
According to police, a report came in at around 8 p.m. Tuesday that a man was disturbing a woman downtown.
When police found the suspect, they said he ran.
The chase led to the Spring Common Bridge, and the suspect jumped.
Police say the man didn't land in the Mahoning River but was injured when he hit the ground.
The suspect is hospitalized in stable condition awaiting charges.
The Spring Common Bridge is known as the "Mr. Peanut Bridge" because of a metal cutout of the Planters peanut mascot placed there by a worker when it was first built and updated when it was renovated.
