An Austintown business is temporarily closed while its owner deals with health problems.

A sign on the door of Abigail's Bakery Creations on Mahoning Avenue says the location will be closed until September 2.

Bill Smith owns Abigail's Bakery Creations and has battled a number of health problems over the years.

Smith told 21 News that his health problems began in 2016 when he went completely blind while driving on the highway. He had temporary blindness again at work a week later which forced him to stay at home and look for a hobby.

He started cooking and baking soon after and that led to a business selling baked goods out of his house. It grew from there, now occupying the former Bill's Place near Marc's grocery store.

Smith detailed his continuing health problems, telling 21 News that he still goes blind every three to four weeks and his pulse has been over 120 since February.

These issues have led to the closure and the need for help to keep the doors open long-term.

Smith has a GoFundMe for donations.
