Trumbull Co. Prosecutor speaks out against paroling convicted killer Mitchell Monday
The Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office is opposing the parole of a Trumbull County man incarcerated in the murder of Mark Dixon in 1995.
Mitchell Monday has a parole hearing set for July. Monday was sentenced to 19 1/2 years to life and has served 29 years so far.
This will be his fourth request for parole while incarcerated. He was sentenced by Trumbull County Judge John Stuard in May 1995.
Monday was found guilty of murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated arson, kidnapping, and having a weapon while under disability.
Trumbull Prosecutor Dennis Watkins said Monday's parole has been denied three times before -- 2009, 2014, and in 2019. Monday was denied because of what Watkins described as the "vicious nature of his offenses" and failure to follow rules within prison.
Watkins added that Monday had been written up three times in prison this year as of early June.
