Fire crews in Youngstown are responding to reports of a gas line that was struck near the Youngstown Boys and Girls Club.

Radio scanner traffic said a contractor had struck a gas main line. The Youngstown Boys and Girls Club has a gas well just outside the property. Our 21 News crews on scene say the smell of gas is very strong and can hear the gas hissing.

Gas has since been shut off and our crews say they no longer smell gas.

Crews on scene tell 21 News the Boys & Girls Club has been evacuated and no one is in the building at this time.

The road was blocked off between Glenaven Avenue and Chicago Avenue, but the roads have since reopened.

Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley told 21 News he is heading to the scene to investigate further. 21 News has a crew on scene gathering more information.
