The Trumbull Community Action Program (TCAP) will be operating its Summer Crisis Program (SCP) for those in need of assistance with cooling their homes during the hot summer months.

SCP will begin Monday, July 1 and last until Monday, September 30. Appointments can be scheduled starting Monday, June 24th.

SCP provides a one-time benefit annually which assists individuals with purchasing an air conditioner and/or fans (if no air conditioner and/or fans was received from TCAP in 2021, 2022, or 2023) or providing a one-time payment for an electric bill (a regulated electric bill may not exceed $500.00 or may not exceed $800.00 for the unregulated electric portion of a bill).

Eligible applicants must also meet one of the following criteria:
• Households with a household member age 60 or older, no medical documentation is required.
• Households whose electric has been shut off, or is in threat of disconnection, or new service is being established or transfer of service or deposit
• Households under the age of 60 with documented medical conditions by a physician. The medical condition is not required.
• Customers who are enrolling in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP) for the first time or have a PIPP default.
• Disconnect notice not required to receive a benefit.

Individuals who apply must provide proof of income for all household members 18 years of age or older, social security cards or birth certificates for all household members, copies of most recent utility bills (primary heating and electric), and a completed medical form(s) from TCAP or physician medical prescription, if applicable

There will be face-to-face interviews Monday, Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only at the TCAP agency in Warren. Wednesday, applicants will no longer have to stand outside, they can call 330-393-2507 ext 225 and speak to a representative starting at 7 a.m. Fridays are phone appointments for those who cannot come to the agency for an appointment. A caseworker will call you at the date and time of your appointment.
