Boardman Subaru has donated a check worth $5,000 to the Mill Creek MetroParks as part of its "Subaru Loves Earth" initiative.

The initiative's goal is to raise money to help plant trees for every vehicle sold. The company says $25 were donated for every vehicle sold this year.

Funding from the initiative will go toward the park's "Keep Mill Creek Green" program, which plants a tree for every $25 donated, which means about 200 trees will be planted as a result.

This is the third year Boardman Subaru has been donating to the park's program, bringing the total donation to  $13,500, or 540 trees planted.

Last year, the company donated about the same amount for trees to be planted at the Collier Nature Preserve.

Now, the trees will be planted at the Wildlife Sanctuary expansion property.
