Suicide Awareness Bus makes stop in Warren for one week
A bus that's been touring the United States to help those dealing with mental health crises and those who have lost a loved one to suicide is making a stop in Warren to let folks know it's ok to not be ok.
The Suicide Awareness Bus, operated by Corey Richez of New Mexico and his wife will be at Save-A-Lot in Warren from sunrise until 10:00 p.m. Friday. The bus will remain in Warren for the next five days.
The Richezs are touring the country to beat the stigma of mental health and suicide across the nation.
"We live in a world that often tells us to hide our pain, to move on quickly, and to act as if everything is fine. But the truth is, there is no time limit on processing grief. It's okay not to be okay, not just today or tomorrow, but for as long as it takes," Richez said in a Facebook post.
The bus is decorated with signatures of those who have lost their loved ones to suicide and support ending the stigma of mental health. Central Texas NBC affiliate KCEN reports that Corey and his wife have been doing this for over three and a half years.
The bus will be at Save-A-Lot all day Friday and will be at another business on Saturday. The specific location will be announced Saturday morning.
From there, the bus will be at Willow Lake RV Park until June 26. The public is welcome to check out and sign the bus for themselves during this time.
